1.1.4

June 21, 2026

Fixed

  • Some models (most often Claude routed through OpenRouter) could print a large block of raw JSON into the chat instead of the usual plain-language summary, which could also make the interface feel sluggish — generation responses are now parsed cleanly no matter how the model formats them, so you only ever see the summary.
  • The Pro Mode plan view (the “Thought” panel and the reasoning card) now shows the readable composition plan for every model — previously, models that wrap their output in code fences (most often Claude routed through OpenRouter) could display a block of raw JSON here instead of the formatted plan.

1.1.3

June 16, 2026

Improved

  • More reliable licensing — activation and license checks now retry automatically through brief network hiccups, so an unstable connection is far less likely to cause a failed activation or a false “couldn't reach the server” message.

1.1.2

June 12, 2026

New

  • Return to playhead — when you scroll the piano roll away from the playhead, a small “↩ Playhead” button appears so you can jump the view straight back.

Improved

  • Smoother seek — after double-clicking to set a start point, pressing play now glides the view to the playhead instead of snapping to it instantly.

Fixed

  • Auditioning a variation while a batch is still generating no longer cuts out when the next variation finishes.
  • The piano-roll playhead now stays locked to what you're actually hearing after you scroll the view — previously it could drift out of sync with the audio.

1.1.1

June 10, 2026

New

  • Automatic update notifications — Aether now checks for new versions on launch and shows a small, dismissible banner when one is available, with a direct link to download. No more missing an update.

Improved

  • Better Grok results — reworked the composition prompting for Grok models so they produce denser, more complete parts instead of sparse or repetitive ones.

Fixed

  • Fixed an error when using the reasoning-effort setting with Grok models that don't support it.
  • Stopped occasional false “generation failed” messages that could appear after you cancelled or resent a request.

1.1.0

June 9, 2026

New

  • Reasoning effort for Grok — a Low / Medium / High selector in Settings lets you trade speed for depth on Grok models that support it. It only appears when the selected model offers it.

Improved

  • Cleaner Pro Mode — the plan and result now appear together in a single “Composition plan” card.
  • Stronger Grok composition prompting for more musical, less generic output.

Fixed

  • The reasoning card no longer clips its content when expanded.
  • The reasoning card now appears in the right place — after your message, not before it.

1.0.1

June 8, 2026

New

  • See the AI’s reasoning — Aether can now show the plan it’s working from as it composes, for both standard and Pro Mode generations. Turn it on or off with the new “Show AI reasoning” setting.
  • Per-variation Pro Mode — when generating a batch, each variation now gets its own independent plan and composition, so the options feel more distinct.

Improved

  • Smarter edits — mentioning a part in an edit (e.g. “make the bass busier”) now focuses on that part instead of removing the others.
  • Tidied the interface: fixed the Quick Params clear button icon and removed a setting that no longer did anything.
  • Hardened privacy in the reasoning view so internal planning context stays internal.

Fixed

  • Cancelling a generation now stops cleanly, with no leftover “Planning…” spinner.
  • Pro Mode now saves your actual prompt to history instead of its internal planning text.
  • Windows: resolved an installer hang on reinstall, made the background helper exit automatically when your DAW closes, fixed a port conflict that could block AI requests, and corrected a packaging issue with the bundled piano instrument.

1.0.0

June 2, 2026

Initial public release of Aether — an AI co-writer that turns plain-language prompts into MIDI, right inside your DAW.

Highlights

  • Generate bass, harmony, and lead parts from natural-language descriptions.
  • Choose your AI provider (ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Gemini, and more) with your own API key.
  • Chat-based workflow: ask for changes, regenerate, and refine in context.
  • Pro Mode for a plan-then-compose approach to more deliberate results.
  • Built-in piano-roll preview and one-drag export straight into your DAW.
  • Save and reuse your favorite generations from the library.
