Refund Policy
Last updated: May 15, 2026
This Refund Policy explains the circumstances in which you can obtain a refund for a purchase of Aether from Umbral Audio, LLC. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service.
1. Defective products only
Aether is digital content delivered electronically. We accept refund requests only for defective products. A product is considered defective if it fails to function as described due to a verified software defect that we are unable to resolve through a patch or update.
2. Eligibility
To qualify for a refund, you must meet all of the following:
- Aether has a reproducible defect that prevents it from functioning as described.
- You report the defect to our support team within 14 days of purchase.
- You provide reasonable details about the defect, including your system configuration, DAW and version, and steps to reproduce.
- The defect is not caused by incompatible hardware, unsupported operating systems, or third-party software conflicts.
3. Non-refundable circumstances
Refunds will not be issued for:
- Change of mind or dissatisfaction with Aether's features or generation quality.
- Issues caused by third-party plugins, DAW configurations, OS misconfiguration, or user error.
- The behavior, output, pricing, availability, or rate limits of any third-party AI provider you connect to Aether with your own API key.
- Inability to obtain or use API keys for third-party AI services.
4. Consumers in the EU, EEA, and UK
If you are a consumer in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days from the conclusion of the contract under the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU and the UK's Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Aether is supplied as digital content not on a tangible medium. By completing your purchase, you expressly request that we begin supplying the digital content immediately and you acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal once performance has begun — that is, once your License key is issued and the download is made available to your account. In practice, this means: if you change your mind before downloading or activating Aether, contact us within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you. After download or activation, refunds are governed by §1–3 above. This does not affect any non-waivable statutory remedy you may have if the product is defective or non-conforming.
5. How to request a refund
Email billing@umbralaudio.com from the email address on your account with your License key or order ID, a description of the issue, and the steps to reproduce it. We aim to respond within two business days and may request additional information or attempt to resolve the issue through a software update before issuing a refund.
6. What happens when a refund is granted
- The refunded amount is returned to the original payment method by our payment processor, Stripe. Most banks show the credit within 5–10 business days.
- Your License is revoked server-side. The same License key cannot be used to activate Aether again.
- Active installations tied to that License will deactivate the next time the Plugin checks in with our license server.
You agree not to continue using Aether under a refunded License.
7. Chargebacks
If you have a problem with a purchase, please contact us before initiating a chargeback with your bank. A chargeback typically results in your License being revoked and your account being suspended pending resolution, even if the underlying issue could have been fixed by a refund or replacement.
