Is Aether a subscription?
No. The plugin is a one-time $60 purchase with free Aether 1.x updates and activation on up to three machines, and a subscription is never required. You bring your own AI provider keys or run local models, so there is no forced monthly fee. An optional Pro tier with managed AI (no keys to set up) is in the works for those who want it.
What will I pay the AI provider?
At list prices, a generation is usually about 3 to 15 cents on a mid-tier model such as Claude Sonnet, depending on how many notes it writes. Lighter models such as Gemini Flash or DeepSeek are often a cent or two. The strongest models, such as Claude Opus or the top GPT and Grok models, usually write better parts, but each generation costs more and takes longer. Several providers offer free tiers. A local model through Ollama or LM Studio costs nothing.
Do I need a ChatGPT Plus subscription?
No. Aether connects to OpenAI with an API key, which is separate from a ChatGPT Plus or Pro subscription and billed by OpenAI per use. Chat subscriptions from Anthropic and Google do not include API access either. Create a key in your provider's developer console, or skip keys entirely with a local model through Ollama or LM Studio.
Which DAWs and formats does Aether support?
Aether installs as AU, VST3, and Standalone for macOS and Windows, so it runs inside Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Cubase, Fender Studio Pro (formerly Studio One), Bitwig, Reaper, and any other DAW that hosts AU or VST3, or on its own without a DAW.
How many machines can I activate?
One license activates Aether on up to three machines at the same time, and you can manage activations from your account.
How do I get Aether after purchase?
Instantly. Your license key is emailed to you and available in your account along with the installers for macOS and Windows.
What is the refund policy?
If Aether is defective and we cannot fix it, report it within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. EU, EEA, and UK consumers also have a 14-day right of withdrawal before downloading or activating. See the refund policy for details.
